A Vision for a New Era

Our vision is one of ambition. We will position Plymouth City Centre as the major retail, visitor and leisure destination on the South West Peninsula.

With our partners, we will raise the profile of Plymouth as Britain’s Ocean City and maximise the potential of the recent investment in cultural, leisure and entertainment venues to drive economic growth.

Safer

We help to fund PARC, Plymouth’s highly regarded Plymouth Against Retail Crime project.

We have increased the budget in 2019 following requests from businesses for more help to tackle anti-social behaviour and street drinking.

We now have three PARC rangers working across the city centre seven days a week, providing help and advice to businesses and visitors.

Plymouth has Purple Flag accreditation, meaning it is recognised as a safe and entertaining night-time destination.

Cleaner

We provide a rapid response clean team across the city centre seven days a week, along with regular hot wash deep cleans, graffiti and litter removal and a FREE trade waste recycling service for all BID levy payers.

In 2019 we will be carrying out extra planting and the introduction of colourful street improvements.

Events & Festivals

We stage events that attract thousands of visitors and provide an economic boost to our businesses and the city, including:

  • FlavourFest, the south west’s biggest food and drink festival with more than 100 traders, attracting 100,000 visitors across the three days

  • Christmas in Plymouth with lighting displays, switch-on event, Christmas Market and a Christmas trail

  • New for 2019: Plymouth Summer of Fun. A programme of FREE weekend activities aimed at bringing families into the city centre every weekend during the school summer holidays.

Marketing & Promotion

We work closely with Destination Plymouth and Visit Plymouth to market the city centre locally, nationally and internationally. 

We contribute to the city’s summer and Christmas retail campaigns, as well as major promotions for our own events such as FlavourFest and Plymouth Christmas Market. 

In 2019 we introduced our own social media channels, giving all our BID businesses the opportunity to market their products and services quickly and easily at no extra charge.
