£12.7m plans unveiled for urban park in Armada Way

More details have been revealed for a complete revamp of Armada Way from North Cross to the Piazza in Plymouth City Centre.

Work is due to start early next year on the £12.7m creation of a Park in the City lined by an avenue of trees and new features, including a stepped amphitheatre for outdoor performances, new and restored water features, spaces for play and more room for café and restaurant outdoor seating.

It will also open up the view from North Cross to The Hoe and include a dedicated cycle route.

The Plymouth City Centre Company has been in discussions with the council on the scheme for some time and is delighted that the go-ahead has now been given.

It will attract more visitors and create the right environment for more housing above shops and on neglected development sites which will re-invigorate the heart of the city and restore Armada Way to its former glory.
