Armada Way Consultation Now Open

The new plans for Armada Way have been revealed and are as ambitious and bold as we could have hoped for.

The City Centre Company has long been urging Plymouth City Council to transform the look and feel of Armada Way for the sake of its businesses and to attract future investment.

The plans, which are now open for consultation, live up to those expectations with a commitment to “recapture the scale and grandeur of Armada Way” by creating what will surely become one of the finest urban parks in the UK.

More trees and greenery have also been promised with 50 more trees than before the felling.

Steve Hughes, chief executive of the Plymouth City Centre Company, said: “It’s exactly what the city centre needs to attract visitors and residents and customers for our businesses. I think our businesses will be delighted but it’s important they now have their say.”

Nigel Godefroy, chair of the City Centre Company, said: “This will be one of the most important regeneration schemes for Plymouth in a very long time and has the potential to attract millions of pounds in further investment for homes, leisure and retail.”

The proposed designs, include a huge “play village” for families – the size of five tennis courts with space and equipment where children can run, splash, climb, swing, or sit down and relax.

The plans are open for consultation for six weeks, so we urge all businesses to look at the detailed plans and submit any feedback or suggestions.

Remember this is about the future of the city centre and your businesses, so make sure you have your say.
