Celebration this weekend of the newly opened public space in New George Street

The City Centre Company has pledged to maximise the use of the newly improved public spaces to stage events and activities to bring life to the streets and attract more visitors.

And it all starts this weekend with our support and funding for a wide range of events in New George Street and Old Town Street as part of the Plymouth Art Weekender.

So, look out for a performance in the new-look Old Town Square by the entrance to Drake Circus this Saturday from 12 to 3pm from swing band The Hot House Combo, a lighting installation in Old Town Street, a roaming giant seagull doing ad-hoc Gullerobics and a paint jam in New George Street and Bedford Way on Saturday and Sunday.

We are planning more events in these spaces for half-term and in the run-up to Christmas, all designed to help businesses bounce back and attract more customers.
