More events on the way as City Centre five-year business plan is launched
More events to attract thousands more residents and customers to the city centre are among proposals in our new five-year draft business plan.
The plan was unveiled to an audience of business owners, managers and stakeholders on a big screen at Cineworld.
It includes ambitious plans for a new-look city centre, maximising the improved public spaces, to attract more visitors and customers.
The plans include an extensive year-round events programme, by day and night, including the return of a mobile big screen to The Piazza for Wimbledon.
There will also be a stronger focus on safety via our Plymouth Against Retail Crime initiative, PARC officer patrols, and improved CCTV and street lighting.
The plan also provides information on the huge level of public and private sector investment on the way, including up to 4,000 new homes, the transformation of Armada Way and the new health testing centre in the West End of the city, all of which will be good news for your businesses.
The new plan will take effect from April 1, 2025, subject to a successful vote by city centre businesses for the city centre Business Improvement District (BID) to continue for another five years.
Voting will take place by post from October 15 and full details will be sent to businesses early next month.
