NEW LOOK FOR CITY CENTRE STREETS IS ALMOST COMPLETE

New seating and new litter and recycling bins have been installed in New George Street and Old Town Street and more of the fencing has come down as the huge redevelopment scheme nears completion.

Quality timber seats have been put on the low granite walls in and around the rain gardens and a further four freestanding timber seats will be in place soon.

New double bins, for recycling and non-recycling – complete with a handy reminder of what can and can’t be recycled – are also in place.

More space has been opened up, including the new performance area at the junction of New George Street and Old Town Street which will include a selection of contemporary street furniture (see artist’s impressions) when complete.

We are busy working up ideas with some of our partners for a variety of pop-up performances to bring more life to the streets and attract more visitors and customers.
